Vanveen Bulbs International is owned and operated by Yolanda Vanveen of Kalama, Washington.
Yolanda's grandfather Johannes Vanveen was a cyclamen hybridizer in Aalsmeer Holland and Grandfather Paul Stigter grew chrysanthemums. Yolanda's parents Bart and Atty Vanveen emigrated to America in 1959 and the family nursery has been going since 1969. As a young girl Yolanda learned that by carefully watching her parents methods of growing and caring for plants one can achieve phenomenal results. As professional growers the family nursery enjoyed many successes but above all they were consistent about two things, plant quality and customer service. That ideal has been an integral part of Vanveenbulbs since being founded by Yolanda in 1992.
In 2004 Yolanda graduated from the Washington State University Master Gardener Program and has enjoyed helping fellow gardeners in the community. I encourage all gardeners to be involved with the Master Gardener Program in their area through their local State University Extension Program.
Yolanda attended the Indigenous Bulb Society of South Africa Symposium in 2006 as a United States delegate and met with flower bulb experts from around the world and visited the countryside to see many South African flowers in bloom.
In the last two years Yolanda has produced and hosted over 1000 how to garden videos on ehow.com, ehowgarden, expertvillage.com and youtube.com. She is currently working on a how to garden DVD showing all steps from spring through fall which hopefully will be available to purchase early next year.
Thanks everyone for choosing bulbs from vanveenbulbs.com, I know you won’t be disappointed.
